A chemical engineer by trade, Godwin Mabande began his journey with BASF in 2005, where he started as a Lab Team Manager for BASF Catalysis Research. Since then, he has held several roles with increasing responsibilities in different areas such as R&D, staff, strategy and controlling. These experiences led to his current position as BASF Americas Business Manager for Custom Catalysts. Godwin graduated with an MBA from the University of Warwick in Coventry, United Kingdom, and has a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Erlangen, Bavaria. In the earlier part of Godwin’s career at BASF, his agility allowed him to excel through different internal-facing roles within R&D, strategy and controlling. In his current position, Godwin shifted his focus to customer-facing topics and developing commercial skills. Godwin is more than a businessman; he’s also a philanthropist. As a volunteer at his church, he recently renovated a homeless shelter to provide refuge to those in need. He also volunteered to pack meals for hurricane victims in Puerto Rico. When he’s not volunteering at church, Godwin is spending time with his family and being a father to his three children. To stay healthy, Godwin hits the gym at 5 a.m. When asked to reflect on his biggest accomplishments, Godwin pays tribute to his time and growth at BASF. He’s eager to see what’s in store for him as he continues to further develop within the company.
