Professionally, my goals are to continue along with BASF’s Catalysts division on its continuous improvement journey. The division is embarking on its next step in terms of continuous improvement reporting, with its transition across to the global COE database.
On a personal level, I’ll be competing in the upcoming 2019 Touch Rugby World Cup in Malaysia. Just a few years ago, when I relocated from Massachusetts, I became involved in the game. I’m proud to have been selected to represent the USA in the Men’s 40s division. It’s a great game, played all around the world, that really is all about diversity.

I’m going to go for my Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2019 to grow my skills in my communications role. I have a non-traditional communications background – I have a B.S. in chemical engineering and an MBA – and I’ve learned by doing, but I’d like to round out my skillset by getting this accreditation.

I have many goals set for 2019 and several things I hope to accomplish. First, I hope to complete my training for my A operator certification within BASF. Earning this certification means I’ll be able to help my team members more.
Secondly, I am a screenwriter in my free time and this year I hope to release three feature films: The Lonesome Soldier, The Abduction of Emmalyn Rose and Whispers from Indian Creek. The first, The Lonesome Soldier, is based on a book I wrote and focuses on the life of a soldier suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder. I also plan to release a second book in 2019, called The Lonesome Soldier Flashbacks.

My goal for 2019 is to finally check a trip to Africa off my bucket list. I am awestruck by wildlife, so this has been my dream since I was a small child. I plan to go gorilla trekking, scouting lions and elephants and avoiding hippos (Africa’s most dangerous animal).

In the new year I will be taking on a new role as site co-chair for AAEG in Charlotte. I will foster an environment that allows employees to be empowered in their roles and progress in career development. My goal is to facilitate the storytelling process that helps to connect people and that highlights their professional skills. It is extremely important to me that people feel that they are understood and valued, and in this new role I will have the opportunity to cultivate that. I am excited for what the new year will bring!

My main goal for 2019 is to keep building strong teams while focusing on achieving profitable business results. This is a continuation of my goal from 2018, which was to establish a teambuilding activity for the Polyol Surfactant lab. It turned out to be very successfully and was adopted by the entire Analytical Service Department. In our last teambuilding meeting, we created vision boards for 2019. Each tech wrote down what they wanted to accomplish in 2019 and added it to their board. The boards are displayed so that team members can help each other accomplish their goals.

I will have technical responsibilities for a customer for the first time in 2019, so my goal is to put them first and ensure they have timely and accurate laboratory support.
